3touch
ENTERPRISE -
Technology Overview
The 3touch Presentation Management Solution is a client/server
implementation. It provides a mechanism whereby a user can securely
upload different file types onto the server. This is done from any point
of access to the networked server. Then, when the user is ready to
present, using a unique graphical user interface, it allows them to
start and control a presentation on any projector, plasma screen or
display device around a campus or facility.
The server then sends the
presentation material to the nominated room and the user has full
control over the file. One of 3touch’s unique features is that the user
has the ability to replicate this in any 3touch enabled room or multiple
rooms in a matter of seconds; again the server provides the power to
offer this level of flexibility.
With this application installed, there
is no setup required, just walk in to any room, any time … and present.
The Platform
The Damsel Server is a lightweight software platform upon which specific
multimedia applications can run, within a distributed environment. It
can be described as a static platform which allows the distribution and
control of information to the endpoint (clients) in near real time.
It is developed using the latest JAVA technologies. The platform is
designed to work on lightweight hardware solutions and therefore
minimises the hardware cost of deployment of application built on the
platform.
Using Java as the development language means that the platform is
Operating System (OS) independent. This allows it to be deployed across
multiple different OS’s Windows, Linux and Mac.
The nature of the architecture within Damsel makes it a truly flexible
platform which allows multiple varying multimedia applications to be
developed and incorporated into the system easily.
Hardware Specification
3 GHz Pentium Processor, 512MB RAM, Internal IDE Disks, 100 Base-T
